Musculoskeletal, Sports & Soft Tissue Injuries
Highly Experienced Physiotherapy Management
Musculoskeletal, sports, and soft tissue injuries refers to a broad range of injuries affecting the body’s soft tissues, including muscles, tendons, ligaments, and other connective tissues.
These injuries are common in sports and physical activity but can also occur due to overuse or trauma. They often involve pain, swelling, and limited movement.
Types of Soft Tissue Injuries:
- Sprains: Injuries to ligaments, which connect bone to bone.
- Strains: Injuries to muscles or their tendons, which connect muscle to bone.
- Tendonitis: Inflammation of a tendon.
- Bursitis: Inflammation of a bursa, a fluid-filled sac that cushions joints.
- Contusions (bruises): Injuries to blood vessels and soft tissues.
- Other soft tissue injuries: Including those to fascia, nerves, or other supporting tissues.
At Mint Physiotherapy, we treat a wide range of Musculoskeletal, Sports & Soft Tissue Injuries. Restore Strength & Flexibility
Exercise Rehabilitation
The primary cause of musculoskeletal pain in the body arises from forces exceeding the body’s capacity to manage them.
Whether it’s the strain on your neck or back from prolonged sitting, the stress on your shins while running, or the pressure on your shoulder when lifting at work, such overloads are major contributors to pain and injury today.
At Mint Physiotherapy, we evaluate the strength of your injured area and utilise our expertise in Clinical Exercise Prescription, referencing a comprehensive exercise database. This allows us to provide you with specific exercises tailored to resolve your overload issues.
Mint Physiotherapy also offers personalised 1-1 clinical reformer Pilates sessions, to help you recover from injury faster, whilst also reducing the risk of re-injury.

Concussion Management:
Expert assessment, diagnosis and treatment of Concussion
One minute you are passing the football, soccer or basketball, the next you are tackled to the ground or receive a knock to the head and you sustain a potential Concussion. Concussions can result in physical, cognitive and emotional symptoms that can make returning to your everyday activities, physical activities and sport challenging.
Recreational and amateur sports are played every week in Tasmania, by a range of individuals of all ages. These sports often do not have an experienced health professional onsite when being played.
Following a suspected Concussion and as per Australian medical guidelines, a Concussion diagnosis must be formally made by a Doctor.

Enhance Mobility and Flexibility
Dry Needling
Mint Physiotherapy offers Dry Needling treatment. Dry Needling can alleviate pain by relaxing muscles and reducing pain signal transmission in the body. This process enhances blood flow, promotes healing, and improves muscle function.
Dry needling involves inserting fine needles into muscle trigger points to relieve tightness and increase blood flow. Patients often feel immediate relief, with needles remaining in place for a short duration. This treatment is often combined with exercises to prevent trigger points from recurring.
While both use needles, Dry Needling differs from Acupuncture. Acupuncture balances energy flow, while dry needling targets musculoskeletal pain.
Dry needling can be used to treat many musculoskeletal conditions, including shoulder pain, Achilles tendinitis, and headaches. It is a safe procedure that is performed by qualified Physiotherapist.
If you are suffering from muscle, tendon, or ligament pain, make a booking with your Physiotherapist to discuss whether Dry Needling may be indicated to help treat your pain.
